About Little Italy
Little Italy is a Baltimore institution — generations of families, iconic restaurants, and a community that looks out for its own. When visitors come from across the state for dinner on High Street, residents want them to feel as safe as they do at home.
That's been the mission for years. State safety grants have brought new lighting, security cameras, and license plate readers to the neighborhood. Those investments — along with the work of LINA and Baltimore Police — have helped make Little Italy one of the safest neighborhoods in the city.
Charm City Shield builds on that foundation — adding additional coverage, a simple reporting system, and community-controlled access to footage.
Networked Cameras
Grant-funded cameras integrated with city systems, supporting faster police response.
Grant-Funded Safety
State grants have funded cameras, lighting, license plate readers, and other safety infrastructure.
Declining Crime
The broader district has seen significant reductions in violent crime in recent years.
Police Coordination
Baltimore Police Central District coordinates with the neighborhood camera network.
How It Works
Through the LINA Safety platform, anyone can report suspicious activity, package theft, vehicle break-ins, or other safety concerns. Reports go directly to the Little Italy volunteer safety committee, who coordinate with Baltimore Police and check camera footage when available.
Report It
See something suspicious? Submit a report with the location, time, and any photos. It takes less than a minute.
Committee Reviews
The Little Italy safety committee reviews reports, coordinates with Baltimore Police Central District, and checks camera footage when available.
Resolve & Retrieve
We work to retrieve relevant footage and share it with authorized parties. Networked cameras help support faster response when incidents occur.
A Neighborhood That Invests in Safety
Little Italy has benefited from significant grant-funded security improvements in recent years — cameras, lighting, license plate readers, and additional services that put extra eyes on the street. Baltimore Police Central District coordinates with the neighborhood camera network and has used footage to support active investigations.
The broader district that includes Little Italy has seen meaningful reductions in violent crime compared to prior years, reflecting the combined efforts of residents, neighborhood associations, and law enforcement.
Charm City Shield keeps that momentum going. More coverage. A single platform where anyone can report an incident and request footage in minutes.
